Belvedere by the River, High-density residential development in Ho Chi Minh City
Multiply Office is collaborating with AREP Vietnam on a high-density residential development in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Our work focuses on the masterplan, residential tower typologies and architectural development of the residential buildings, exploring how density can be combined with generous living spaces, landscape and a strong relationship to the river.
At the masterplan scale, the project organizes a series of residential towers within a continuous landscape. Rather than concentrating the density into large, monolithic volumes, the buildings are fragmented to create a more porous urban structure and allow air and landscape to move through the site.
The residential typologies are developed around deep balconies and shaded outdoor spaces, providing each dwelling with an intermediate space between the interior and the surrounding landscape. These spaces also contribute to passive solar protection and frame views towards the river.
At ground level, the landscape forms a transition between the residential buildings and the waterfront. Generous planted areas create a cooler, more open environment while providing shared spaces for residents.
The project explores how masterplanning, tower typology and architectural design can work together to address the challenges of high-density housing in Ho Chi Minh City — not by reducing density, but by using it to create a more spatially generous and climate-responsive residential environment and an active neighbourhood.
